One of my other learning goals for conceptualizing was to emphasize with our target group (TV production people). I’m curious how the target group will think about our concept, so not only Fraser. I (Olmo) chose to write a Scenario. In each keypoint of this scenario I wrote the feelings and thougths of the target group. Based on this info I created a Customer Journey ‘map’, or rather Customer Journey Scenario (CJS).

Creative brainstorm

I want to learn new and creative ways to come up with concept. Last time with Take on New Things 1 I wrote the concept rationale to explain why a concept is a good concept. This time I want to research different ways of brainstorming and see if the concept becomes better because of this. I will do this by applying the different ways I found in the research and applying them with the group in the right circumstances. I will document this brainstorm and evaluate if it helped us to create more creative concepts.

In the research, as seen above, I looked up different ways to do creative brainstorms. I prepared the arbitrary word brainstorm and organised that the brainstorm would be done in a new environment. In advance all the group members and me prepared ten concept ideas. We went to a café where none of us had been before so that our brain would be stimulated in the right way to be more creative.

Brainstorm session in the Stan & Co.

We first went over the ten concepts everybody prepared. And found out that we had a lot of the same first ideas, like virtual reality and doing a game of the gameshow with the tv producers. This proved that it was a good exercise to prepare these concepts beforehand to get these first ideas out of our heads and make space for new and more original ideas.

After that we did the arbitrary word exercise. On the table was a bottle of balsamico vinegar so we used that as the word. We first wrote down all the proporties, associations, functions and memories we had with this subject.

Arbitrary word brainstorm – Balsamico Vinegar

Then we chose words that we wrote down with the association exercise. We then thought of ways that we could connect the ‘random’ word with Banknote Bingo. This gave us new ideas and concepts as seen beneath.

Some interesting ideas we came up with that we normally wouldn’t have thought of are for example the image that the vaults of the banks are empty because all the money is at home with the viewer watching banknote bingo or that a stripper wins a lot of money because of the ten euro she got in her panty and that we could send a pizza box to the tv producers with the instructions of the tv show to grab their interest.

After this brainstorm session we came up with our ten best concepts that can be read in our blog post of all the ideas. Two days after getting all our ideas on paper and writing them down in a document, we went over them with a fresh and new look. We then chose our ten best ideas and combined adjusted some ideas to make them into concepts.

10 Concepts

  1. Time is money
  2. Watching the show = win/ gain.
  3. Showing scenarios of people who have cash and become rich with this in a commercial for the tv show. To grab their attention.
  4. A pizza deliverer receives cash and with this cash he becomes rich by winning money. – Send pizza to the producers with the explanation of the game in the box. – concept; Send all the tv producers something where the explanation of Banknote bingo is attached in a fun way. = commitment + consistency
  5. (Accidentally) Giving away your chance of winning money. (medium= Stripclub; strippers have cash in their panty’s and they can win money with this).
  6. Pilot Commercial. To explain the concept in a convincing way with a commercial.
  7. The vaults of banks are all empty because of the show. All the cash is in the homes of the people.
  8. Convincing the tv producers by showing that people like it (on the street). Act it out on the street with people who can win money = target audience. film this and show to tv producers that the people are already enthusiastic.
  9. Let the tv producers experience the show, as an audience or to be in the show. (Studio setup, make the show with live audience → invite the tv producers to you.  or VR)
  10. Changing the value of money. (Create 2000 from a 20 euro banknote. Jesus is/or an illusionist) Banknotes with 4 digits on them
  11. Banknote bingo is a party

In conclusion, we found that this way of doing the creative brainstorm helped us to come up with new original and creative ideas and concepts.

Week 5

So in week 5 we came together to discuss our project and make some steps. Since the week before Fraser told us that we were doing great, we all got the feeling we were some steps ahead. That lead to the fact we didnt had any progress the week (5) after. So we made a to do list:

to-do-list-blad1

We also expanded our concept, which is almost done, and put it on paper:

Banknote Bingo game show – Augmented reality presentation

The presentation of the television show Banknote Bingo will be presented through an augmented reality experience. This unique way of presenting will make the tv producers more excited and enthusiastic about Banknote Bingo. It will also make them remember the format better. Using augmented reality through an application or website gives the producers the option to watch the presentation again afterwards and to show it to other stakeholders.

The augmented reality application can be activated with banknotes. Every banknote says something about the game show. We will use a 5, 10, 20 and 50 euro banknote. This means it will exist out of 4 parts (slides).

5 euro banknote:

The application will start by asking you to scan the 5 euro banknote. This will be the introduction.

“ Welcome to ‘Banknote Bingo’, a real game changer in access primetime and primetime game shows. The first truly interactive mechanism where everyone at home can play along for free and have the chance to win the same cash prize (or even more) as the finalist in the studio. All they need are the bank notes in their wallets and the unique code each one of them has. “

When scanning the banknote there will be some visuals. The

10 euro banknote:

The application will ask to scan the 10 euro banknote. With this banknote the application will explain how the game show works. People at home can win money when they have the right combination of numbers on their banknotes, but how are those numbers chosen?

“Each of four preliminary rounds consists of nine questions, all multiple choice and given to all the contestants in one batch. They give their answers on their individual touch screens and viewers play along too to see how many answers they would get. Their aim is to create a four digit total for one finalist to play for at the end of the show. The highest possible winnings are therefore €9999.

At the end of every round the number of the person with the highest score will be selected. This will be the number that is one of the four digit number that determines the winning code.

20 euro banknote:

The application will ask to scan the 20 euro banknote. This part will give a short explanation on how people at home can play along.

“If any part of the code on their banknote matches the sequential four digit number generated by the finalist in the show, they win the cash pot or share it with other viewers who also have the code. It’s that simple and that addictive.”

50 euro banknote:

The application will ask to scan the 50 euro banknote. This part will explain the different possibility’s this format offers. This format could be a daily gameshow or a big primetime show. The differences will be in the amount of money the contestants will be able to win. The game can be played with 4, 5 or 6 digit codes.

“Banknote Bingo can be played with played with a four digit, five digit or six digit code. It depends on the budget and timeslot of the Broadcaster, all other mechanism elements stay the same. Production can control payout by the difficulty of the questions, offers made during the preliminary rounds and offers made in the final where the contestant only has a 1 in 5, 1 in 6 or 1 in 7 chance of winning the jackpot.”

Week 4

This week Fraser came over to give feedback on the concepts. We came up with. We where presenting the 3 different concepts we talked about in our earlier blog. I had the change to do the presentation and make concepts as clear as possible. Cashmyra made some useful moodboards that we where also showing during the presentation.

I think the presentation went quite well. He was enthusiastic about the concepts and after discussing about it we where able to make some decisions.

These where the most important notes we made:
– We just have to find that trigger. We can choose all 3 concepts.
– Giving away the money. I would skip this. It is about the greed.
– The usp is. Everybody has banknotes.

Concept

First we decided that we all would come up with 10 concepts on our own that we could discuss later. Monday 28 – 11 we sat together and started sharing. These are most of the relevant concepts:

  • Give pizza to tv producers, because food is beautiful.
  • A pizza deliverer receives cash and with this cash he becomes rich by winning money. – The concept is showing scenarios of people who have cash and become rich with this in a commercial for the tv show.
  • Send pizza to the producers with the explanation of the game in the box. – concept; Send all the tv producers something where the explanation of Banknote bingo is attached in a fun way.
  • swimming pool with money
  • money in a frame
  • catwalk
  • lapdance
  • Stripclub; strippers have cash in their panty’s and they can win money with this
  • present with a pilot commercial
  • locker full of money
  • Dagobert Duck
  • bank
  • The vaults of a bank are all empty because of the show. All the cash is in the homes of the people
  • Pilot episode (half) live – the producers use their own money to play the game
  • A unlimited amount of tickets in a lottery; the mechanism in 1 sentence.
  • Money makes Money
  • Time is money → watching the show = win/ gain
  • jesus; creates 2000 from a 20 euro banknote (can also be an illusionist)
  • Present in a song. intro number for the tv show
  • act it out
  • holograms
  • Presenter presents the tv show (to the tv producers)
  • Act it out on the street with people who can win money = target audience. film this and show to tv producers that the people are already enthusiastic
  • Studio setup → invite the tv producers to you
  • Virtual Reality; walk through the studio or the pilot episode
  • Celebrity presents to the tv producers
  • Kidnap the tv producers and put them in a pilot episode of the tv show. = let them experience the tv show (be in the tv show) in an unexpected way
  • Present in a way without talking
  • Present it on the moon
  • The target audience presents it – show enthusiasm
  • Illusionist robs a bank + the bank notes have the tv program on them
  • numbers
  • Board Game
  • interactive installation
  • musical
  • banner behind airplane with explanation of the tv show
  • present with a podcast
  • change the worth of paper money.
  • game during pitch
  • give people money on the street
  • animation
  • film
  • invite the people over
  • have a party
  • make a small model of the show
  • cook for them
  • invite the producers over for a live show with audience – to show them the experience and how the audience reacts to the show
  • write a novel
  • Write a comic
  • Go on holiday
  • Make banknotes with 4 digits on them
  • When going out save money for the tv show
  • When is a chill moment when you can watch it?
  • Eat together with the tv producers to make them feel the family feeling and on the tv in the living room is playing banknote bingo. Concept = experience the tv show in the home of a family
  • special christmas show
  • december is a month with a lot of expenses. Winning money can help with getting gifts for your family. December = being together with your family, generosity, good mood
  • Santa Claus
  • Presents
  • Commercial; poor man with 10 euro’s who wants to buy a doll for his daughter for christmas. Watches banknote bingo instead and buys 1500 dolls for his daughter.
  • put it on the table
  • take out your cash

Afterwards we narrowed it all down to 10 concepts that we liked the most. We also described them a little bit more:

10 Concepts

  1. Time is money → watching the show = win/ gain
  2. Showing scenarios of people who have cash and become rich with this in a commercial for the tv show. To grab their attention.
  3. A pizza deliverer receives cash and with this cash he becomes rich by winning money. – Send pizza to the producers with the explanation of the game in the box. – concept; Send all the tv producers something where the explanation of Banknote bingo is attached in a fun way. = commitment + consistency
  4. (Accidently) Giving away your chance of winning money. (medium= Stripclub; strippers have cash in their panty’s and they can win money with this).
  5. Pilot Commercial. To explain the concept in a convincing way with a commercial.
  6. The vaults of banks are all empty because of the show. All the cash is in the homes of the people.
  7. convincing the tv producers by showing that people like it (on the street). Act it out on the street with people who can win money = target audience. film this and show to tv producers that the people are already enthusiastic.
  8. Let the tv producers experience the show, as an audience or to be in the show. (Studio setup, make the show with live audience → invite the tv producers to you.  or VR)
  9. Changing the value of money. (Create 2000 from a 20 euro banknote. Jesus is/or an illusionist) Banknotes with 4 digits on them
  10. Banknote bingo is a party

So then we had to pick three concepts that we are going to present to Fraser. It was a classic ‘Kill your darlings’ scenario but in the end we chose these three:

Top 3 concepts:

  1. Giving away your chance of winning money.

(medium= Stripclub; strippers have cash in their panty’s and they can win money with this).

  1. Time is money.

(Watching the show = win/ gain.)

  1. Changing the value of money.

(Create 2000 from a 20 euro banknote. Jesus is/or an illusionist. Banknotes with 4 digits on them)
